About Me
Meet Cindy
Born to immigrant parents, Cindy was raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she grew to develop her love for fitness and sports. She always had a passion to be active and spent hours on end engaging in activities with neighborhood friends. At the age of 11, she began organized sports such as basketball, volleyball, cross country, and tennis, but didn’t begin her track and field endeavours until the age of 14. She was reluctant to follow in her older sister’s footsteps who had been running track at a competitive level years before her, but decided to try out for the track team her freshman year of high school. She ended up quitting 2 weeks later , but was encouraged by her high school coach to return because there was potential success cited during her initial tryout, although she struggled initially. The following year Cindy returned to the track and doing so changed the trajectory of her life. She became a 4 time state Champion and received an athletic scholarship to the University of Michigan. She had a passion for teaching and helping the youth, which led her to pursuing a degree in education while at the UofM.

During her time at Michigan, she became a 6x school record holder, NCAA champion, and academic All American. She went on to pursue a professional career sponsored by Adidas and due to her multiple citizenships, represented Great Britain on the world stage. She became a 8x British National Champion and represented Great Britain in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympic Games where she showcased her speed, determination, and perseverance. In 2016, she made history by finishing fourth in the Olympic final, one of the best performances ever by a British hurdler. She is currently the British national record holder, has won medals at the European Championship and Commonwealth Games, and has achieved being one of the fastest hurdlers in the world.

Cindy’s journey to success wasn’t easy. She has faced challenges and injuries along the way but she never gave up. Her dedication, hard work, and resilience led her to persist regardless of what life threw at her. She is a devoted Christian who consistently depends on her faith to overcome life’s hurdles and she now uses her journey to help others do the same; to reach goals they never thought they could reach with the help of Jesus Christ. She is now married to her husband John of over 5 years and continues to use the gifts God has given her to help those around her.
